Bentley acquires Optram.
Adds enterprise-class software
for railway track maintenance to their expanding portfolio.
EXTON, PENNSYLVANIA, USA Bentley Systems, Incorporated
recently announced that it has acquired Optram, Inc., a Massachusetts-based
supplier of software for railway track maintenance. Optram's
users are some of the largest freight and passenger rail operators
in the world, including AMTRAK, CSX, New Jersey Transit, Washington
Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the San Francisco
Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART).
"Optram represents an exciting expansion of our solutions
for the rail industry," said Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley
Systems. "Its ORIM family of products extends our operations
and maintenance offerings with a proven and highly cost-effective
solution for rail and transit operators."
"Owner-operators of the rail infrastructure must place
increasing emphasis on management strategies for their prime
asset - the rail corridor," said Ted Selig, founder and
CEO of Optram. "We provide unique IT capabilities to
help [customers] achieve their goals."
The Optram Railway Infrastructure Management System (ORIM)
uses operational and engineering data to prioritize and schedule
maintenance tasks, minimizing costs and track downtime while
maximizing reliability, safety and asset life. It integrates
existing rail corridor information, like work history, infrastructure
condition, traffic usage and environmental influences.
ORIM users have shown a 10% to 23% reduction in maintenance
costs - saving millions of dollars and generating a very significant
return on investment - and reductions in safety exceptions
by as much as 95%. Other Optram users employ ORIM to develop
mission-critical applications such as managing track tolerance,
emergency response, and track charts.
"As part of Bentley, we will be able to reach around
the globe with our capabilities, offer a much broader array
of IT services, and enable our users to take advantage of
a comprehensive portfolio of rail software," stated Noah
Eckhouse, President and COO of Optram. "At the same time,
we look forward to expanding our successful relationships
with other solutions providers and systems integrators to
implement enterprise solutions."
