Are CAD Managers Underpaid and Overworked?

"I was taking a look at some data regarding CAD managers and dug up a few things I found interesting. Feel free to write and let me know what you think." — Editor

1. According to Robert Green Consulting Group's annual "CAD Manager Survey", in 2005 the average CAD manager salary was $53,847. Back in 2000, the average was $45,524. In 2001, it was $49,000. $52,419 in 2003 and $55,062 in 2004. Salaries have steadily increased over the last six years, with the exception of a 2% decrease between 2004 and 2005.

2. In addition, the survey states that the average CAD manager supports 41 CAD users. Evolve Consultancy's "CAD Managers' Survey 2006" of the UK's AEC professionals supports this theory by stating that "the average ratio of CAD support staff to users is 1:43.2".

3. The "Median Hourly Rate By Experience" according to PayScale Inc is the following:
· 1-4 years $17
· 5-9 years $18
· 10-19 years $23
· 20 years or more $25
