I enjoy what I do. I work with smart people to make software tools
that help other smart people work faster and easier.
To that end, Axiom recently created a new product which, while modest,
is a labor of love for me. All of our tools help CAD managers and
users alike. This tool is no exception, but it does this in a new
way. You could say it helps us help you.
The tool I am referring to is Axiom Update Manager™,
also known as AxiUpdate. Its purpose is to make it easy for
Axiom users, especially CAD managers, to keep their Axiom products
up to date. Any time he wants, an Axiom product user can choose
"Check for updates..." (please see Figure 1) from his
Axiom menu to launch AxiUpdate.
Or CAD managers can even opt, during the installation of any Axiom
product, to have AxiUpdate check for updates automatically
every 30 days (please see Figure 2).

To check for updates, the user need only click <Next>. AxiUpdate
will then compile a list of the latest Axiom products via the Internet.
It will quickly look at all the products you have installed, note
each installed product version and present you with a list of exactly
which updates you need. The installed products for which updates
are available are sorted to the top of the list (please see Figure
3).

If you want to upgrade every outdated product you have installed,
you need only press <Download>. If you only want to upgrade
some of them, simply uncheck the ones you don't want before pressing
<Download>.

When the downloads are complete, you must click <Request Licenses>
(please see Figure 4). This will create a customized e-mail for
you to send to Axiom's Licensing Department, including a list of
exactly which updates you downloaded. Axiom's Licensing Department
will respond promptly by e-mailing you any new licenses you need
for all the products covered under your current maintenance agreement.
After you request your licenses, press <Finish> to close AxiUpdate.
Once you receive your new licenses, you are ready to install your
updates. When you downloaded the updates earlier, they were saved
to your Desktop by default. Each update file is a self-contained
installer for one Axiom product. To install each update, double-click
on it and follow the instructions provided. Installation of each
product is quick and easy. During the installation process, you
will have an opportunity to copy and paste in your newly e-mailed
licenses.
When the installation is complete, your products will be updated
and you should be ready to go.
