The Problem
Duplicate MicroStation elements are a bigger problem than most MicroStation experts realize.
Why?
- Time is wasted when you have to stop and figure out why elements arent moved or deleted when they should have been.
- Duplicate elements make MicroStation screen updates take longer.
- They create plotting problems (such as unsightly dark elements on pen plots).
- Duplicate elements waste disk space and memory. As a result, you have less free disk space and MicroStation runs slower.
The Solution
Duplicate Element Remover solves these problems
for MicroStation users automatically! Furthermore,
Duplicate Element Remover gives you pinpoint
control over exactly which elements get deleted
and which dont.
 |
| Duplicate Element
Remover gives you exact control over which
MicroStation elements get deleted. You can also
delete selected elements, even if they are not
duplicates. |
Precision Control
Duplicate Element Remover gives you exact
control over:
- Which design files get processed. (Any set of design files for example, *.dgn can be processed with a single command.)
- Which levels to remove duplicates from. (Maybe you have some levels on which duplicate elements are allowed.)
- Which element types, weights and styles should be considered for removal.
- Whether or not to compare against elements in reference files.
- Many other processing options.

| Duplicate Element
Remover gives you pinpoint control over
every aspect of the Duplicate Element Remover
process. |
Elements that are identical
except for level, color, weight or style
Duplicate Element Remover puts you in control
over how closely elements have to
match before they
are considered duplicates. For example, what if
two elements
are identical, but are on different
levels? What if two elements differ only in color?
Or weight? Duplicate Element Remover gives
you precise control over such criteria.
Partial overlaps
What about elements that partially overlap
for example, a line that overlaps one segment of
a line string? Or an arc that overlaps part of a
circle? Should they be
deleted? Once again, Duplicate
Element Remover gives you exact control.
Near-duplicates
What about two lines which almost exactly overlap
except that they have very slightly different vertices?
Once again, Duplicate Element Remover gives
you control over
how far apart the vertices can
be and still be considered duplicates.
Powerful and convenient
reporting
Deleting duplicate elements automatically
is a very powerful process. Before doing so, you
should always verify that you wont be deleting
elements you actually need. Duplicate Element
Remover gives you several powerful ways to accomplish
this verification.
Graphic report files
For each design file processed, Duplicate
Element Remover can generate a graphical report
design file showing only the unwanted, duplicate
elements. The report design file has the same name
as the original design file, but extension of
.drf (design report file).
 |
| Duplicate Element
Remover creates a design file that shows
the duplicates graphically. Duplicates are displayed
as green elements. |
Text report files
Duplicate Element Remover can also
generate a text report file that lists each design
file processed and a list of the elements removed
from it. You can generate one text report file for
the entire job or a separate text report file for
each design file processed.
Batch mode versus interactive
mode
As a further convenience, Duplicate Element
Remover gives you a choice of using batch mode
or interactive mode. In batch mode, if you choose
to remove all the duplicate elements in a set of
design files, say *.dgn, it will remove all the
duplicates in those design files with no further
human intervention. In interactive mode, Duplicate
Element Remover zooms in on each duplicate element,
letting you decide to delete (or not delete) each
duplicate one at a time.
