The Problem
FileFixer tells you that the 174th element in your design file is corrupt. You want to see what element 174 looks like. How do you tell MicroStation V8/XM to display element 174?

The Solution
Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM is a simple, yet powerful MDL application that lets you instantly zoom in on a MicroStation element knowing only its V8/XM file position number or element ID.

Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM’s main dialog box.

Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM can be used with FileFixer and SpecChecker to see (visually) what a potentially corrupt and off-standard MicroStation element looks like.

Among the latest enhancements to Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM are:

  • The ability to examine all elements in each V8/XM model in a file.,

  • The ability to see all header elements, such as all shared cell definitions,
the file's level table, font table and all other tables.

  • Support for reading SpecChecker for V8/XM reports and ability to step through a
file to view all elements that SpecChecker for V8/XM deems to be off standard,

  • Capability to step through the file in reverse sequence to review the most recent elements drawn in the file by clicking on the newly-added <Last> button,

Using Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM is simple
To start Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM just select “Axiom” from the MicroStation menu and then select “Problem Element Viewer”. Enter the V8/XM file position number or element ID of an element you want to see and Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM instantly zooms in on that element.

Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM is FileFixer's trusty side-kick. Problem Element Viewer can, for instance, read and understand the report files generated by FileFixer. Let’s say you wanted to look at each of these elements before letting FileFixer fix them automatically. You would start Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM and select fixer.rep. Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM will instantly zoom in on the element and display the FileFixer error message associated with the element. To zoom in a little closer, just click the “Zoom In” button. To zoom out a little further, just click the “Zoom Out” button. Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM will even remember the zoom ratio you prefer for the rest of your current session.

To go to the next element in the design file, just click the “Next Design File Element” button and Problem Element Viewer for V8/XM will zoom in on the next element.
