RefMerge for V8 merges a design file and all its reference files into a single design file. The resulting output file looks the same as the original file, but is now easier to manage and transport to customers, partners or service bureaus because only one design file is involved.

RefMerge for V8 can be run on a single master design file and model or it can be run on any set of design files and models you choose.

RefMerge for V8 properly scales and rotates each element before copying it to the output design file. Reference file clipping boundaries and voids are honored. Nested reference files, V7 reference files and AutoCAD references are honored as well.

RefMerge for V8 intelligently manages MicroStation complexities like dimensions, element associations, locked application elements, raster reference files, tags, shared cells and others.

As RefMerge for V8 copies master and reference file elements to the output file, it can optionally change their color, weight and style to match the level override symbology settings contained in the master file. The merged output file can then be translated by MicroStation to the file format of your choice with reference file level symbology honored!

RefMerge for V8 has an optional processing mode for V8 design files making it possible to copy all external references into the output file as internally referenced models. This maintains all the advantages of reference files while keeping everything inside a single V8 design file.

While most people use the default settings of RefMerge for V8, there are numerous options available to control every aspect of the merging process including output file name and location, element symbology modification, reference file filtering control and level name handling to name just a few.

Important information for MicroStation users who use level symbology and export data to AutoCAD, IGES or CGM

The translators built into MicroStation ignore level symbology. By themselves, exporting a file so that translated elements match your level symbology settings is therefore impossible.

As RefMerge copies elements to the output file, it can optionally change their color, weight and style to match your level symbology settings. The merged design file can then be translated by MicroStation to the file format of your choice with reference file level symbology honored!

"We purchased the product RefMerge to merge all reference files into the main DGN file. This is a necessary step in storing DGN files in our document drawing system together with a tiff version of the drawing. So we cannot do without your product."
Bert de Ruijter
