Import Small and Large Files Alike

If you’ve ever tried to get a tall Excel or Word paste into a short space, you know the trouble that entails. In fact, in talking with some new customers, we found that one of the tasks that was taking the longest was trying to make tall pastes fit inside their DGN or DWG borders.

These CAD users would manually split up tall data into multiple pastes. Trying to do this is both time-consuming and frustrating. Simply changing text size is seldom an option as the text must be readable in the plot and must almost always follow a CAD standard that dictates the text size.

Fortunately, for Microsoft Office Importer owners, this isn’t an issue.

About Us

Long known as the world’s largest third-party software developer dedicated to making MicroStation easier, saving MicroStation users’ time, solving their problems and increasing their production, Axiom then turned its sights to broader fields, beginning with the Autodesk universe.

Axiom’s purpose is to help CAD and BIM professionals design a better world for themselves, their families, their organizations and the planet, by understanding their needs and providing software that handles repetitive tasks quickly and easily. To remove some of their frustration; to increase their status and job security; to help them meet deadlines; and to get them home on time.

What Our Customers Say About Us

I’ve used Axiom’s Microsoft Office Importer for years. We currently use it with our tables for roadway elevations. We do elevation tabulation sheets. One spreadsheet can have 40 rows of information or more, covering several miles of highway, with several sheets. When I’m done using Microsoft Office Importer on them, they LOOK REALLY NICE, and they have A LOT of information. And every time we make an update, it updates our work automatically, it references the updates right in. I’ll tell you, we have A LOT of sheets.

In the past, it would take one professional several days to get the job done. But when I used Microsoft Office Importer, I did it in half a day. Mine looked just as professional. So we have simply abandoned the old way of doing it.

Microsoft Office Importer formats the sheets exactly how I want them. When there is a time constraint — which is always — using Microsoft Office Importer has been critical for us. Now we can get more done. Microsoft Office Importer gets all the rows right. We reference the spreadsheet in, and it updates perfectly. You can reformat it just the way you want it, every single time. It follows the CAD format just the way we want it. Our projects are custom jobs, so perfection is key. I’m a lifelong fan.

We especially use Axiom’s tool, Microsoft Office Importer, for importing quantities and spreadsheets from Excel into MicroStation. To try to update and do this from scratch without Microsoft Office Importer is very time-consuming, and it is much easier to import into MicroStation with Microsoft Office Importer.

Per project, the amount of time it saves varies, but on our most recent project, we have saved a day’s worth of work per spreadsheet, especially if we have to update and add a column or add a row. On an average project, we have at least 11–12 tables and spreadsheets.

To say it in a different way, your Microsoft Office Importer tool saved us an estimated three months of full-time work on just one project. It saves quite a bit of money and time. Without Microsoft Office Importer, we’d have to have one person working full time.
