Retrieve across the Intranet without ever installing
anything on their computer.
Inside MicroStation
Retrieve provides MicroStation users with a robust
knowledgebase, full of information regarding design tools,
workflows, standards, company practices and project management.
Retrieve is integrated into MicroStation and is launched
from a help toolbar. This seamless integration allows users
to not interrupt the design process to look for answers related
to MicroStation. By clicking on one of the help icons, a Web
browser opens to display MicroStation tool descriptions, illustrations
and interactive videos showing how the tool works. Users can
then click the <Try-It> button and MicroStation will
activate the command, open a sample design file or display
a tools specific dialog box.

For advance sear-ches, enter a question in plain English
and Retrieve reveals the top five answers. Should the
right answer not be found, the employee can submit the question,
which is automatically routed to a pre-assigned expert. Retrieve
is a great way to supplement and extend your support team
without adding to the staff. Now, no employee has to wait
for answers to their questions. Information is just a question
away, a definitive way to increase personal productivity.
The Retrieve repository
Axiom continues to provide time-saving tools, such as SpecChecker,
that correct CAD standard violations, resulting in drawings
that fulfill defined requisites. While Axioms standards-checking
tools fully handle all aspects of standards during design
sessions (such as standards regarding element attributes,
level assignments, text, dimensions, etc.), what about standards
involving the broader procedures describing what a designer
is required to do to complete a project? Examples of these
kinds of standards include such things as: What plots are
required to accompany project submission; where to send the
submission; what supporting documentation must be submitted
with the files; which reference files must be attached to
a submission; who to contact for questions on how to handle
something new that needs to go in the design but is not addressed
in the specification; and the like. Often, such procedures
and descriptions are written as Word documents or Excel spreadsheets.
Use Retrieve to easily store all project support procedures
and documents in its unique repository.
Users can add project documentation and CAD standards to
the Retrieve repository in any format, like Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and PDF. With its built-in search engine, users
can type in keywords to locate specific documents. This centralized
repository allows designers to obtain project information
and corporate standards very fast, even on the fly
while designing.
Collecting knowledge
With a simple web interface, Retrieve promotes knowledge
sharing among employees, and since Retrieve may also
be launched independently of MicroStation, it may be used
to support every key technology, department or group in your
company.

Heres how it works: A question is entered, either by
the employee who wants an answer or by the support staff who
wants to add to the knowledgebase. Then, using the built-in
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get, no coding required)
editor, the support staff answers the question, using images
(if needed) for clarity. Once the answer is created, it is
recorded into the Retrieve database. The next time
someone asks the same (or similarly-worded) question, the
prepared answer appears. Imagine the impact to corporate productivity

answer every time.
